Document Structure and Flow Control
In order to define a document structure, add the text and content you want to appear in the generated document, optionally specifying style for each item. TurboWriter will generate the document in the sequence you specify.
If you use flow control "Continue Flow" for text or a single content item, TurboWriter will generate that item in that position.
If you use flow control "Continue Flow" for a repeating content item, TurboWriter will generate all instances of that content item in that position.
To define a repeating group, use flow control "Begin Repeating Group" on the first item of the group, and use flow control "End Repeating Group" on the last item of the group.
If you define a repeating group, TurboWriter will generate:
- All of the items in your repeating group for the first instance of the repeating content items within that group,
- and then all items for the second instance,
- and then all items for the third instance,
- and so forth until all instances have been generated.
If you include any text items or single content items within a repeating group, TurboWriter will generate them within each instance of the repeating group.
If no items within a repeating group are repeating content items, TurboWriter will generate the repeating group just once, the same as if you had not defined a repeating group.
If the repeating group contains repeating content items with different numbers of instances, TurboWriter will continue to generate instances of the repeating group until all of the content items have been displayed. As mentioned above, TurboWriter will generate text items and single content items for every instance of the repeating group; but TurboWriter will generate repeating content items only once, according to which instance of the group is being generating.
You can define any number of repeating groups within a document structure.
TurboWriter handles malformed repeating groups as follows:
- If you use "Begin Repeating Group" without later using "End Repeating Group", TurboWriter will consider the last item of the document as the end of the repeating group.
- If you use "Begin Repeating Group" more than once before using "End Repeating Group", TurboWriter will consider the first "Begin Repeating Group" item as the beginning of the repeating group.
- If you use "End Repeating Group" more than once after using "Begin Repeating Group", TurboWriter will consider the first "End Repeating Group" item as the end of the repeating group.
- If you use "End Repeating Group" without using an earlier "Begin Repeating Group", TurboWriter will ignore the "End Repeating Group" designation.
